On Saturday, the talk focused on how racism affects the physical and mental health of the people who experience it and also if it affects how people interact with the health care system.
“We also see it at a structural level in terms of the system and the way it disproportionately responds to different groups in society,” said organizer Darrien Morton.
The first 13 Fires Winnipeg talk happened last month with a discussion focusing on racism and poverty.

“If I know what the obstacles are, I can better know what the solutions are,” she said. “We’re overwhelmed in data, so we need to figure out a way to get the data together, and pull out what’s really important.”
